Lots Of Fun Under The “Son” At Access-Life Expo Orlando

November 27, 2012

We truly love seeing God work in people’s lives through His great outdoors. The smile on a child’s face as they hold their 1st fish is priceless. Even more powerful are the expressions of joy when parents see their children who have disabilities accomplishing things they never thought possible.

Through God’s grace, we at Access-Life work hard to make these moments happen. We are a 501c3 nonprofit Christian evangelical outreach to individuals and families affected by disability and we use events and programs connect them to Christ honoring churches, organizations, resources and people within their community by creating a safe atmosphere of unconditional love, wholesome fellowship and just plain fun.

Disability affects everyone within the family. Moms and Dads need respite and a venue of support, siblings need to experience friendships outside the basic family dynamic and of course individuals with disabilities need the opportunity to do things they never believed they could do. That’s why our ministry verse is Phil. 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”.

One of the most successful ways we are able to help those who are affected by disability is through our Access-Life Expos. These are community outreaches where we partner with local churches and organizations to put together a FREE, fun and faith filled day of bank fishing, boating, art, crafts, archery, kayaking, games, food and more for those who are part of the disability community within that area. Our hope is that thru these events and by connecting participants to partner churches and organizations they will be encouraged, refreshed and given hope that can only come from Jesus Christ.

This past November 10th, we held our last of five Expos for 2012. It was held in Ocoee, FL and God not only blessed us with some fabulous weather but nearly 600 attendees including participants and volunteers! Many boat rides were given, a few fish were caught and over 400 hamburgers, 300 hot dogs and 60 pounds of chicken were served that day. Each participant or family received a goody bag with sponsor, exhibitor and local resource information as well as a Bible, Gospel tract, candy and a variety of other treats too. All in all, there were many smiles on many faces, an atmosphere of joy and relaxation in the air and at the Child Evangelism face painting booth an attendee prayed to receive Christ which pretty much sums up what happens at a typical Expo!
