Prepping for the Program Year: Recruiting Volunteers

August 2, 2011

Uncategorized

It’s August! We all know what that means…the program year is about to begin! For many of you, you’ve turned the calendar, and that has turned your tummy a bit, too, as you realize what you have ahead of you.

Most folks have selected curriculum and begun the process of scheduing meetings, special events and retreats. And, of course, the process of recruiting has ramped up as the calendar inches towards what we all agree is the true “new year.”

And so, a few questions for the good of the group…

  • How do you recruit volunteers for your special needs initiatives?
  • What qualities do you seek in those volunteers?
  • What is your process for screening volunteers for special needs purposes?
  •  Does recruiting for inclusion volunteers differ from your other recruiting?
  • For what “jobs” are you recruiting? What unique positions does your ministry have?

Please leave your ideas and questions in the comment section here, so that we can all learn and grow together!
